Ramanagara district is one of the 30 districts of Karnataka state in southern India. Ramanagara town is the administrative headquarters of this district. The district is part of Bangalore Division.HistoryRamanagara district was carved out of the erstwhile Bangalore Rural district on 23 August 2007, comprising Channapatna, Kanakapura, Ramanagara and Magadi taluks of the undivided district.GeographyRamanagara is approximately 50 km southwest of Bangalore. It has an average elevation of 747 metres (2450 feet). Ramanagara is famous for the huge rocky outcroppings.
