Faro de Fisterra, Fisterra

#1 of 10 in Things to do in Fisterra
Take the time to walk out to Faro de Fisterra, a lighthouse on a famous cape. As the nearest lighthouse to the Americas, the farthest west in Europe, it was appreciated by sailors as their last glimpse of home before many long days at sea. However, its bright beam served a much greater purpose: Its light reaches 65 km (40 mi) away, warning ships about this rocky coastline, known as the Coast of Death because of the many shipwrecks. Take a look at the collection of paintings inside. Take a look at our Fisterra road trip site to schedule your visit to Faro de Fisterra and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • It is a must visit in Galicia, beautiful and very inspiring after having made the way to Santiago

  • One word is the end of the world! There were cars, free parking. There's nothing special about the museum. The main thing to be lucky with the weather, it changes here hourly in summer. If you're a snooch around, it's worth waiting a couple of hours for an amazing panorama. In the village, all participants of the Camino de Santiago are given separate Certificates. It's worth it!
