#4 of 55 in Parks in Madrid
Nestled in a green area in a quiet district of northeast Madrid, El Capricho Park provides an interesting and relaxing escape from the bustle of the big city. Construction originally began in 1787, the age of Romanticism, and the park’s features reflect that style. Wander along the shaded pathways and discover the many statues, sculptures, and monuments scattered across the park's 14 hectares (34.6 acres). Seek out the intricate designs of the Palace of the Dukes of Osuna, as well as the small chapel located in a wood. Public transportation is available from central Madrid on both buses and the Madrid Metro system. To visit El Capricho Park on your trip to Madrid, use our Madrid tour itinerary maker site.

  • If you live in Madrid, you should definitely come here. It is a beautiful park, and well enough out of the way that not many tourists discover it. The first time I went, there were squirrels the size of monkeys, and a flock of parakeets. It was quite entertaining.
  • I love visiting this place, the gardens are well maintained and beautiful. It feels really good to walk admist the trees and greenery. Food is not allowed inside, but they have lockers to leave any food you brought with you. There is another public park nearby where you can have picnics. There is a restaurant nearby, but it seemed quite expensive, we crossed the highway and found a really nice and inexpensive place to have lunch.
